Community. Recreation. A Little Pirate Adventure.

Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District welcomed families, residents, and visitors for two days of pirate-themed fun during the Talk Like a Pirate event on September 18 and 19.
The event transformed the recreation area into a lively community gathering place, with live entertainment, food vendors, children’s activities, and plenty of opportunities for families to enjoy time together outdoors. One of the highlights of the event was the appearance of the local pirate ship from Holloway’s Marina, which helped bring the theme to life and added a unique Big Bear touch to the celebration.
Throughout both days, the event maintained steady attendance as community members stopped by to enjoy the entertainment, participate in activities, visit with local vendors, and take in the festive atmosphere. The variety of activities provided something for all ages and helped create a relaxed, family-friendly environment for residents and visitors alike.
Events like Talk Like a Pirate are an important part of the District’s recreation programming. In addition to providing entertainment, they create opportunities for neighbors to connect, families to spend time together, and visitors to experience the sense of community that makes Big Bear unique.
The District appreciates the community partners, vendors, staff, and participants who helped make the two-day event a success and looks forward to continuing to offer creative programs and special events that bring people together throughout the year.
