The Baker Boulevard Bridge Replacement and Improvement Project, located in Baker California, is coming to fruition after several years in development. This construction project involves removal and replacement of an existing two lane 408 foot long timber bridge that was constructed in the 1930’s which traverses the Mojave River Channel with a new four lane concrete bridge having a center median and shoulders to match existing pavement improvements to the east and west of the structure while accommodating and including sidewalk and driveway improvements meeting and addressing American with Disability Act Guidelines on both sides of the roadway westerly of State Route 127 (Death Valley Road) for roughly 0.32 miles.

San Bernardino County and the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority celebrate a collaborative effort and significant milestone in securing $18,369,000 in Transportation Corridors Enhancement Program (TCEP) grant funding for construction from the California Transportation Commission to address previously unfunded project costs. In addition to TCEP, programmed funding includes the use of Surface Transportation Program, STP – Local funds, and Measure I North Desert Subarea Major Local Highways Program, MLHP, funds.

Construction of the project is expected to begin in June of 2026 and be completed by June of 2028.
