The Bloomington Recreation and Park District’s annual Santa Photo Holiday Event is a beloved community tradition that brings holiday joy to families throughout the Bloomington area. Held at Ayala Park, the event attracts more than 300 community members each year and offers a festive, welcoming celebration for all ages.

The evening begins with performances by the Bloomington Dance Program, featuring 12 choreographed routines by dancers of all ages. Families and friends gather to cheer on the performers as they take the stage in holiday costumes, enhanced by special lighting and music that create a vibrant and joyful atmosphere. The performances provide young dancers with a meaningful opportunity to showcase their talents in a supportive, community-centered setting.

Following the dance showcase, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department delivers one of the event’s most anticipated moments by arriving with a very special guest—Santa Claus. Santa makes a grand entrance in a patrol vehicle, complete with flashing red lights and festive excitement. As Santa steps out, waving and greeting the crowd, the moment creates a memorable spectacle that delights children and adults alike.

Santa then moves into the community room, where families have the opportunity to take professional holiday photos provided by Rene Alexander Photography at an affordable cost. This offering gives families a convenient and accessible alternative to crowded shopping malls. The event also features local vendors and a partnership with the Girl Scouts, who serve hot cocoa and holiday treats, adding to the warm and festive experience.

The Santa Photo Holiday Event exemplifies the Bloomington Recreation and Park District’s commitment to creating inclusive, family-oriented programs that foster community connection and lasting memories. This cherished annual celebration continues to be a highlight of the holiday season and a tradition eagerly anticipated by the Bloomington community each year.
