After over three decades of dedicated service, Brendon Biggs, director of San Bernardino County’s Department of Public Works, is bidding farewell to a distinguished career.
Throughout his journey, Brendon played a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of San Bernardino County. He also became a familiar and calm presence during countless TV news interviews during floods and other disasters.
Starting in 1987 as a manufacturing engineer, Brendon transitioned to the county in 1991. Over the years, he rose through the ranks, including serving as a supervising project design engineer, working on various projects including the award-winning Sycamore Creek Bridge, Lake Gregory Trail, Slover Avenue Widening, and many more roads, bridges and safety projects.
Brendon’s strategic vision became evident in roles such as division chief of transportation planning and later as deputy director of operations, where he oversaw maintenance and operations for transportation and flood control.
In 2019, Brendon’s leadership was crucial during a merger with the county’s Special Districts Department, leading to his appointment as director of Public Works in 2020.
Brendon, a Cal-Poly, Pomona graduate with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering technology and a master’s degree in civil engineering, reflected on his career, stating, “Civil engineering changes people’s lives for the better, and I am proud to be a part of that change.”
As he steps into retirement, the county expresses its gratitude for Brendon’s exceptional service and wishes him a rewarding and joyful new chapter. Brendon Biggs leaves a lasting legacy of resilience, leadership and a passion for community service in San Bernardino County.
