The Bloomington Recreation and Park District proudly hosted its annual Summer Movies in the Park series at Ayala Park, offering four weeks of free, family-friendly entertainment for the community. The 2025 summer theme, “Sandler Nights,” featured a month-long showcase of popular Adam Sandler films, drawing families and residents together throughout the month of July.
Movies were held on Thursday evenings and were free and open to the public. Festivities began at 6:00 p.m., allowing families to arrive early and enjoy vendor offerings, open play spaces, and water-play amenities while waiting for sunset and the start of the movie.
This summer’s lineup included Grown Ups, Grown Ups 2, Hotel Transylvania, and Pixels, providing a mix of comedy and family-friendly favorites that appealed to audiences of all ages. Families brought blankets and lawn chairs, turning Ayala Park into a welcoming outdoor theater and gathering space.
The Summer Movies in the Park series encourages families to unplug, spend time outdoors, and connect with one another in a safe and inclusive environment. These four events created memorable summer nights, promoted use of the park’s open spaces, and reinforced the District’s commitment to providing accessible, high-quality recreational programming for the Bloomington community.
