On January 28, 2025, the Board of Supervisors approved Grant Award Agreements with the United States Department of Agriculture – Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for financial assistance to address flooding risks caused by the Bridge Fire in the communities of Mt. Baldy and Wrightwood.
The Bridge Fire, which burned over 54,800 acres across the Angeles National Forest and impacted the unincorporated communities of Mt. Baldy and Wrightwood, has left these areas vulnerable to flooding and debris flows.
In close collaboration with NRCS, the Flood Control District (FCD) has secured federal grant funding through the Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program to implement post-fire mitigation measures.
In response, FCD and NRCS have partnered to implement innovative emergency protective measures designed to protect lives, homes, and critical infrastructure.
As part of these efforts, 620 linear feet (LF) of K-rail has been successfully installed to help mitigate the risk of post-fire flooding and debris hazards in the communities of Mt. Baldy and Wrightwood.
