The San Bernardino County Flood Control District has completed the Desert Knolls Wash Phase III Improvement Project from the existing trapezoidal concrete channel to just North of the confluence with the Mojave River in the Town of Apple Valley. The project construction contract cost was $11,102,185 and was funded by property tax revenue, fee revenue, and other local, state, and federal funding, as well as a grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The project involves constructing approximately 2,590 linear feet of flood control improvements. This includes building a series of grade stabilization structures along the entire length of the channel, stabilizing the slopes, creating maintenance access roads with ramps, and constructing a bridge.  This project aligns with the County and Board of Supervisors’ goals and objectives of ensuring the development of a well-planned, balanced, and sustainable county and providing for the safety, health, and social service needs of County Residents.
