Self-Haul Exemption Program
The San Bernardino County Solid Waste Management Division (SWMD) offers a Self-Haul Exemption Program for unincorporated residents and businesses located in County Franchise Areas (CFAs) that are subject to mandatory waste services. Eligible participants in this program choose to transport their own solid waste, recycling, and green/organic waste (based on location) to designated disposal and/or processing facilities instead of subscribing to a waste hauler collection service.
Please note: Employing or paying anyone other than a SWMD-contracted franchise waste hauler to remove waste from your property is prohibited.
Obtaining a Self-Haul Exemption Application
Unincorporated residents and businesses have two options for obtaining a Self-Haul Exemption Application and Informational Letter:
Online Application
1. Enter your address in the search field found in the upper left corner of the map.
2. Locate the Self-Haul Exemption Application and Informational Letter links in the attribute table to the left of the map.
3. Print the 2024/25 exemption application and information letter.
Mailed Application
Alternatively, you can request a Self-Haul Exemption Application and Informational Letter be mailed to you by calling 909-386-8701.
