Flood Control Engineering
The Flood Control Engineering Division is primarily responsible for the preparation of plans and specifications of flood control improvement projects for the San Bernardino County Flood Control District (District), as well as coordinating the development of Federally sponsored Flood Control projects with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Recently completed Corps of Engineers projects included the construction of Seven Oaks Dam and San Timoteo Creek Channel & Basins. The division also reviews improvement plans submitted through the District’s Flood Control Permits office for compliance with District standards.
The Right-of-Way section within the division is currently working with other offices to provide a GIS (Geographical Information System) network which should allow our customer base to conduct necessary research on their own. Note this is a newer service the District and San Bernardino County is providing for ease of convenience. A link to several “Interactive Maps” are provided upon the department’s home page.
Record Drawings (aka As-Builts) and Topographic Maps
The division files and maintains all available record drawings of Flood Control District facilities, including facilities constructed by the Corps of Engineers. Topographic maps are available for the southwesterly portion of the San Bernardino County as well as its desert communities minimally. The record drawings and topographic maps are available at no charge to the public to review. Hardcopies may be purchased from the District for a fee.
Right of Way Documents
The Right of Way Section of this division is responsible for surplus property investigations and determining the need for purchasing or disposing properties. This section also performs right of way engineering for flood control improvement projects. District right of way and easement documents are available at no charge to the public for review. Copies may be purchased at our office for a fee.
Surplus Property Review (easement & surplus land requests)
When inquiring about obtaining any easement rights upon District owned land or obtaining land owned currently by the District, it is necessary to initiate the Surplus Property Review process. Before the process is started, it is a requirement of the District to receive the fees mandated by the current Board Ordinance prior to beginning a review.
