Flood Control Engineering
The Flood Control Design Division is responsible for designing and supporting the construction of infrastructure that protects communities from flooding and stormwater hazards. Its core mission is to reduce flood risk, enhance public safety, and support sustainable water management through technically sound and environmentally responsible design.
Record Drawings (aka As-Builts) and Topographic Maps
The division is responsible for filing and maintaining all available record drawings for Flood Control District facilities, including those constructed by the Corps of Engineers. Topographic maps are available for the southwestern portion of San Bernardino County, as well as for its desert communities, albeit minimally. The public can review both the record drawings and topographic maps at no charge. Hard copies can be purchased from the District for a fee.
Infrastructure Design
Prepares engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for flood control facilities such as:
- Storm drains and culverts
- Channels and basins
- Levees, dams, and detention/retention systems
- Emergency Repairs
Technical Support During Construction
Provide design clarifications, submittal reviews, and field support to ensure construction aligns with approved plans and specifications.
