We’re excited to share some great news with you! A valuable partnership has been formed between the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and the Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority (SAWPA). Through this collaboration, SAWPA will be managing the distribution of $29,058,570 in grant funds to support critical flood control projects.

One of the key projects benefiting from this grant is the Cable Creek Basin Project, which has been awarded $2,521,678 for design and construction. Located in the City of San Bernardino area, this project aims to create a debris/detention basin at the existing Cable Creek spreading grounds. The basin will play a crucial role in protecting residents, businesses, and public infrastructure from flooding hazards.

The scope of work for the Cable Creek Basin Project includes basin excavation and reinforced concrete construction, all geared towards providing long-term flood protection with additional benefits. The basin will also serve as a sedimentation and stormwater recharge area, helping to replenish groundwater in the region.

The San Bernardino County Flood Control District (SBCFCD) is dedicated to enhancing community safety and improving flood control management for the benefit of all residents. Stay tuned for more updates as this important project moves forward.
