San Bernardino County Special Districts is making meaningful progress in expanding and improving the irrigation system at Memorial Park in Lucerne Valley. Recently, new Schedule 40 PVC water lines, a common and durable type of pipe used for water distribution, were installed to support the ongoing development and maintenance of the cemetery’s west side. The park’s on-site well provides all water needed for irrigation.
This project included extending a 3-inch main irrigation line that branches into 2-inch laterals, delivering water to key areas such as the gazebo and planned landscaping sections. Spigot access was added at the gazebo and stub-outs were installed to allow for future irrigation control systems. These upgrades ensure the park has the water capacity needed to maintain healthy turf and plantings as the grounds continue to grow.
As the site expands, additional grass, shade trees, and other landscaping will be planted and supported by the upgraded system. The community frequently asks about adding more shade trees, which are a favorite feature of the park. With these improvements in place, we are better equipped to meet those expectations while maintaining Memorial Park’s peaceful setting.
