The San Bernardino County Public Works Traffic Division has completed the installation of a multi-way stop control at the intersection of Marshall Boulevard and Sterling Avenue, enhancing safety in this school zone area. This upgrade converts the existing two-way stop (controlling east and west traffic on Marshall Boulevard) to a four-way stop by adding new stop signs for north and south traffic on Sterling Avenue.

The intersection meets the requirements set forth by the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CAMUTCD) for multi-way stop control. This safety improvement was specifically requested by the local Teacher Association and School District Safety Officer to address traffic concerns near school facilities.

As this is a shared jurisdiction intersection with the City of San Bernardino, extensive coordination and proposal development took place between agencies to implement this safety measure. The multi-way stop control will significantly improve traffic safety by requiring all approaching vehicles to come to a complete stop, reducing collision potential and creating a safer environment for students, pedestrians, and motorists.

By implementing this traffic safety enhancement, San Bernardino County Public Works continues its commitment to protecting students and residents through effective traffic management solutions that address community needs and prioritize public safety.
